Uniform changes for InterContinental staff

The City InterContinental Hotel in Doha has previewed the new hotel with a fashion show for staff, featuring the new uniform that will be worn to demonstrate the bold new direction the hotel is taking. The official launch for InterContinental Doha The City will include a number of incentives including free overnight stays as part of a booking.
Forty staff members paraded in front of their colleagues and head office staff from InterContinental Hotels Group in Dubai, to reveal the new outfits that will harmonise the customer experience from front desk to restaurants, to the Health and Fitness Club and Spa Rooms.
The new uniforms, designed by long-established Lebanese uniform designer, Emile Rassam, combine an attempt to deal with the extremes of temperature experienced by staff working in different parts of the hotel: from the arid heat of the parking and door-keeping areas through to the air-conditioned corridors and the intense steamy heat of the kitchens. They also create a unified impression of the hotel, aiming to be dignified but modern, streamlined but sumptuous and in technical fabrics that continue to look good and perform well in demanding situations.
While housekeeping staff wear simple black tunics and female reception staff black dresses with gold scarves, male reception staff have grey suits and gold ties. Fitness and spa staff have simple collarless shirts with long sleeves, and different coloured cuff bands revealing the areas of the hotel in which they work. The restaurant staff sport uniforms ranging from highly formal with waistcoats and cravats through to simple white shirts with coloured cuffs like the Health Centre staff but in a different colour.
