US Army Uniform Survey

Tuesday 14th of February 2012 06:36:23 PM

US Army Uniform SurveyWhile armies are said to march on their stomachs, members of the military in the USA are being invited to comment on a certain part of their uniform - their physical training kit. The uniform provision for all National Guard and Army Reservists is under procurement review and as part of the process of ensuring the uniform is fit for purpose and cost effective in provision, members of the armed forces are being invited to put their views on the PT uniform into an online survey which can be found at Army Knowledge online (AKO) and accessed using each soldier’s Common Access Card.

The survey offers three basic categories: appearance, durability and reflectivity on which uniform clothing can be rated. Suggestions for improvements in the supplied kit items can also be made. The survey is available until March 5 2012 and should take around ten minutes to complete.

The data provided will help produce the recommendations that will be made to the Army Uniform Board. In the same month, a former West Point Cadet, Jenifer Beaudean has published a book about the bulimia that she developed as a result of the pressure to keep to weight and height restrictions at the privileged military academy so that she looked good in her uniform. And Michelle Obama has been talking about healthy eating in the Military because obesity in the military has become a prevalent topic: more than one quarter of 17 to 24 year old Americans are considered are too overweight to serve in the military and the burden weight increases in serving personnel is placing on the military health system and uniform provision process is considered to be unacceptable.
